Getting Old

Recently I decided that in order to best serve my wife, I need to work hard at leaving the office by 4:00ish, and in order for me to do that with a clear conscience, I really need to be here between 7 and 7:30. So I've been setting the alarm for the past couple of weeks for 6:15, with the intention of getting up on the second snooze, sometime before 6:40, which usually puts me in the office about 7:20. Anyway, I realized for the first time in my 31 years of life that I'm getting older -- I can't stay up and watch Conan and then expect to be up at 6:30. I fell asleep on the couch Thursday night at 9:50. I NEVER go to bed that early. This is hard for me! I love late nights, but I know that I best serve my family by getting going earlier in the morning. A friend told me once that marriage showed him how selfish he was, and then later, when he had kids, it really showed him even more how deep-rooted his selfishness really was. Ditto for me!
