I'll let on more after I garner some response, but here's the question without tainting it one way or another: Morally speaking, is our world getting to be a better place to live or worse? (Subcatagory -- is America getting to be a better place to live or worse?) I'll say no more. Let me know what you think.

From my vantage point and where I spend my days, I think the world is getting worse. Unbelieveable how kids spend their time & their money.

Yeah, definitely getting worse. Not that things have ever been great, but divorce rates are going up, tv and movies are getting more obscene and vulgar, gender confusion is growing, and generally today a lot of people my age just do whatever they want and their excuse is "who cares" or "its not a big deal" or "it doesn't matter." They're total hedonists and I'm confronted with it nonstop living on a college campus. The mindset of my peers today is scary and really just plain sad.

I would like to think that the world is not getting worse. There have been problems like we see today all along. Through the media and better communication we are just becoming more aware of them. Possibly then the world is getting better because through our new awareness we are able to begin doing something about it.

I think there is a combination of things going on...

I think the world is growing more morally corrupt. But I also agree with Holly that media coverage has really exploited everything that happens.

And since morals have gone down the toilet, there are several side effects...

Less motivation among young people, bad parenting, and general apathy among a lot of people...
